Scholastic Book Fair

For four days in December we’ll have our own bookstore at school! The bookstore will be open Monday, Dec. 3 through Thursday, Dec 6 in the Multi-Purpose room next to the cafeteria.
Book Fair Hours:
Monday 7:45-3:30
Tuesday 7:45-3:30
Wednesday 7:45-6:00
Thursday 7:45-6:00
We know that when children pick their own books, they are more likely to read them. We also know that children who read 30 minutes per day graduate in the top 10% of their class.  Help us raise readers by talking with your children about what they like to read and encouraging them to read daily.
Proceeds from the book fair will directly benefit students and teachers at HCS in the form of classroom distribution, spring and fall grants, and other school-based PiE initiatives.
Come shop for holiday gifts!  Hope to see you there!
We need volunteers to staff the book fair!
Please click the link below to sign up to help.  Thank you!

Cardraising

If you normally order holiday cards from places like Shutterfly, Snapfish or TinyPrints, where you choose a template and then upload family photos to customize it for your family - we have an exciting new website for you to use which raises money for HCS, with no extra cost to you!

It's called Cardraising.

Click here (or the graphic below) to take a tour and learn more - and to start working on your holiday card.  Just make sure you've chosen Hinesburg Community School before you start.

Thanks!

Fundraising Update

Meadow Farms
Thank you all for participating in our fundraiser, and in some cases, mailing in straight donations in lieu of purchasing.
We made a little over $6,900 profit!  We are very excited about this!
We also learned a lot during the process of executing this project, including the amount of time needed to process orders/late orders/etc. and the amount of management needed in general.
There's a reason schools only do one of these types of events a year.
Thank you very much to everyone on the Fundraising Committee for many hours of work, and many details accounted for!

Box Tops
We got a boatload of Box Tops and Labels for Education!  Thank you! Raffle winners announced soon.

Bake Sale
Look for a Sign Up Genius invitation to contribute to the Election Day Bake Sale and to help with set-up and tear-down.

CardRaising
Don't order your Holiday photo cards yet!  We just learned about a super-cool and easy way for HCS to raise money using a special website.  Details and promotional info. is in the mail to us, we'll share more as soon as we know more.

Meadow Farms

Our Meadow Farms fall fundraiser is now in progress!  Please review the packet of information that came home with your student last week and email dodgeopton@gmavt.net if you have any questions.  Sales packets are due October 1st.

Some parents have expressed interest in a different fundraising model – a direct financial contribution.  For those families who wish to contribute this way, please send in the form below, with your tax-deductible donation made out to “HCS PIE”.  This can be done at any time during the school year.  PiE is happy to accept whatever a family can donate.  Letters recognizing your donation will be sent in December for 2012 tax reporting.
Thank you for your support!

Welcome to a new school year!

We are excited for another great school year, and we can’t wait to dive in, start learning and re-connect with our great teachers, families and staff.  The first fundraiser of the year will be Meadow Farms again, same as in the past.  Sales start Friday 9/14 when your child brings home their catalog, order form and packet of info.
Any questions, please contact hcspie@cssu.org and we'll get back to you.

Thanks,
